I was reading the dig deeper part of Matthew 13:44 and found it interesting.

a. The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field: The field is the world, but the man does not represent the believer, because we have nothing to buy this treasure with. Instead, Jesus is the man who gave all that He had to buy the field.

i. “Under rabbinic law if a workman came on a treasure in a field and lifted it out, it would belong to his master, the field’s owner; but here the man is careful not to lift the treasure out till he has bought the field.” (Carson)

ii. This parable and the one following are different in character than the previous three. The previous three parables (the wheat and the tares, the mustard seed, and the leaven) each spoke of corruption in the kingdom community. These two parables…

Hello fellow newbies! Have you found your verse? Ya know, the verse that made it sync into place? Mine hit me one night when I was sitting in bed reading through the “Dig Deeper” portion. I have always been waiting for a feeling, or a knowing. Or something. Surely something has to happen right? I knew I wasn’t going to hear some voice in my head, or feel something on my body. But, I was always waiting. So I’m reading this paragraph and it gives a scripture. I read it and went to go on to the next sentence, but something stopped me. I literally felt dumbstruck. All this time waiting for some miraculous feeling, or some joyous feeling….. and it’s dumbstruck. So I’m sitting here in bed, reading on my phone, jaw on the floor lol. I went back and reread the verse. Three times. And I finally understood.…

This is good! Thank you for sharing! I'm going to have to look in my journal, because I know there has been at least one. For a while I struggled with knowing how I could 'love' God wholly, and I believe it's because I was comparing His love to the love I felt from my own earthly father, and that didn't feel very... well convincing. Or warm. But once I realized that was the enemy creating a mental blockage- I've been working through that and I feel I'm on a solid path to giving my heart and trust to Him. Anyway- I didn't answer your question haha, but I'll be looking for the specific answer for sure :)

Day 19 question

Can someone help me understand the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl?

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!”

If you click and read the Dig Deeper portion that will explain that parable.

Hi

Sorry, I’ve been so quiet lately. I’m dealing with some personal stuff. My husband recently started going to a Catholic Church that started last Sunday because our normal church was closed due to the inclement weather. We’ve been having in Georgia and he found God again or felt the Holy Spirit or both were happy for him. He’s coming back to God in the way that he is comfortable with. I just wasn’t ready for the 180 shift that was gonna happen right away. I’ve been with him now for almost 8 years. We’ve been married a year and we historically have not been the best partners through everything. The only requirements in our relationship is that you had your own personal journey with God and that you were Christian, which has always been my case, but also hasn’t always been the case at the same time is a very…
