My thoughts or God’s

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8

How do you discern when it is God speaking to you, telling you what he wants for you and when it’s your own thoughts?

For example- completing Devotional #59 and the last step is to sit and ask the Lord what areas in your life are you resisting his plans. (Or something like that).

So as I sit, I immediately have thoughts, but are those my thoughts or Gods?

How do we know?

Mandaleigh, this is my first time responding to a question so please bear with me and I hope this makes sense to you and everyone else.

I was thinking about this question because I have thought the same things often and then become discouraged because I think I’m doing this all wrong. Like it should be easy to pray and get and answer right? But no, in fact I have hardly ever heard of anyone getting an answer thy understand immediately or easily.

What came to me was take for example a question of “should I quit my job and apply for something completely different?”

Instead of expecting a straight forward answer to this take the “Christlike concept” to the issue (in this example the job) how would Christ behave? What would he do? How would he treat a difficult co-worker or boss? Have you lost joy in the job and you need to find joy in it again, doing all things to glorify the Lord.

If you apply this concept it will work the answer out for you. Either you rediscover your passion in your current place, maybe your positivity and Christlike compassion gets you a promotion into leadership or maybe you get poached by another company looking for someone just like you to join their team.

Add Christ to the equation and the rest will work itself out.

I hope that made sense and wasn’t just rambling.

Have a lovely evening and I hope this helps you.
